Mission Statement

To locate and provide services for senior dogs in need that include foster care and adoption, medical care financial support, emergency transport and animal welfare support.

Ellen’s Honor is established with the intent to be a resource for people with high-needs senior dogs who are unable to provide care, or for people who are aware of a senior dog in need of support that may not be receiving proper care in their current situation.

Mark, Josh, Ellen & Portia

Mark Snyder Jr adopted Ellen in 2010 and Portia in 2012 from the Humane League of Lancaster County, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Together, all three moved to Colorado in 2013 and met Joshua Rigo. Fast-forward to 2020, the year Mark and Josh got married, and all four lived together as a family.

Mark had always been an activist for animals, but it was Ellen's death that became the catalyst to try to make a larger and more consistent effort to support them.

Mark created Ellen's Honor to realize that effort, something he has always wanted to do. Ellen was nothing short of a blessing to this family, and she should be a blessing to many others.
